In reply to <a href="https://travellingbalkans.com/balkan-tips/#comment-2905">Shell</a>.

Hey there, yes you could definitely do that but you'll need to find a car company that's located in the country you want to start and finish in and contact them asking if this is possible. You may have to pay a few for them to send back to the original country you started in so always good to check with them. I would start by researching on https://discovercars.tp.st/y3UVuSOS because then you can see a rough estimate on price and companies that will let you do that :)

Hitchhiking in the Balkans is very easy, you'll see a lot of others doing it as well and normally it can be quite easy to find a ride!

Thanks so much for the info!
I plan a trip in the Balkan from May till about August. I'd probably visit most countries.
Do you know if renting a car and moving around different countries + returning it in a different country is doable?
Another option I'd like to explore is hitchhiking (I've done it in many places, I just wonder if it's a good idea in the Balkans..

Happy to hear your thoughts..

Thanks again!

Kaymak is not whit cheese, its Turkish word, Kaymak is something like a cream, and made by cooking the milk and you take the fat at top and leave to dry. Simply fat/oil side of the milk. I suggest Bosnian börek, but börek is also Turkish, even the word is Turkish. Dolma means fulled up in Turkish, made by filling bulgur to inside of eggplant, pepper, tomato, courgette

Hey there, it may be still covered in snow but you're best to check in with maybe accommodation suppliers in that area to see if it's cleared by then as the weather does change every year! Hope that helps :) Anita

Really great information here.

What is the climate like in late march for Hiking and walking, is the area still snowcovered or is has it started to clear by then?

Many Thanks,

Hello Anita,

The road to Theth is done now, so any type of car can drive there.
It was great for us to see it done as we went with normal car, so we were not sure if we can reach Theth based on the info we found on internet.

Have a good day!

Hey Anita!
Thanks for all these info.
Me and my girlfriend also want to do a trip to Albania and visit Theth. But we will arrive in Tirana close to midnight, so we will stay there for one night to start our way to Theth the next morning. May I ask what would be your advice?
If we take the bus to Shkoder, we will arrive too late to catch the van in Shkoder at 7am, right?

Best regards
