Hey there, yes you could definitely do that but you'll need to find a car company that's located in the country you want to start and finish in and contact them asking if this is possible. You may have to pay a few for them to send back to the original country you started in so always good to check with them. I would start by researching on https://discovercars.tp.st/y3UVuSOS because then you can see a rough estimate on price and companies that will let you do that :)

Hitchhiking in the Balkans is very easy, you'll see a lot of others doing it as well and normally it can be quite easy to find a ride!

Thanks so much for the info!
I plan a trip in the Balkan from May till about August. I'd probably visit most countries.
Do you know if renting a car and moving around different countries + returning it in a different country is doable?
Another option I'd like to explore is hitchhiking (I've done it in many places, I just wonder if it's a good idea in the Balkans..

Happy to hear your thoughts..

Thanks again!

Oh my god, the Rakia/water mistake, I've learnt that the hard way as well! Reading that gave me horrifying flashbacks, haha. I'm in your Balkans FB group and I love your other site but as a fellow Balkans-lover I am super excited to read more of this one! You have yourself a new follower :)
